About YardstickCalc
YardstickCalc is a collection of free online calculators, unit converters and quick answers built for people in the United States: homeowners planning a project, hourly workers checking a paycheck, students, and small-business owners.
What makes a calculator here different
- The answer comes first. Every page opens with a worked example and the result updates as you type. No “Calculate” button, no scrolling past ads.
- Formulas come from primary sources. Unit factors from NIST, labor rules from the U.S. Department of Labor, material densities from manufacturers and DOT specifications. Each source is listed at the bottom of the page.
- Every formula is tested. The reference examples you see in the text are also automated tests that run before any change goes live. See our methodology.
- Built for your phone. Big touch targets, the right keyboard for each field, a sticky result on long forms, and pages that work offline once loaded.
- You can take the result with you. Copy it, share a link that restores your inputs, print a clean sheet, or export a CSV.
How the site makes money
Display advertising. Ads have fixed, reserved space so the page never jumps, and they never appear between the heading and the calculator. We do not sell your data; see the privacy policy.
Who is behind it
The site is run by a small independent team. Author and reviewer profiles are on the Authors page. Financial and health calculators are reviewed by qualified professionals before publication, as described in the editorial policy.

Tell us on the contact page. Corrections are made within a few days and the page's “Last updated” date changes when they go live.
