Quick answers and popular values

Date arithmetic is easy to get wrong by one day: whether the end date counts, how long a month is, which day a holiday is observed on, and what a leap year does to February. These calculators handle those details and show the steps so you can check them.

Which calculator to use

Today, in your time zone

Every page that starts from “today” reads the date from your own device, so the answer is right in your time zone even late at night. The pages are generated ahead of time and recount in your browser when they open; what is today’s date shows the date in U.S. and ISO formats with the day of the year and the week number.

Units of time

For conversions between units of time — weeks to years, milliseconds to seconds, how many weeks are in a year — the factors come from the mean Gregorian year of 365.2425 days, and each page explains when the exact figure matters.

Frequently asked questions

Do the date calculators count business days?

Yes. Business days are Monday to Friday, and U.S. federal holidays are taken out on the day they are observed — a Saturday holiday on the Friday before, a Sunday holiday on the Monday after. You can switch holidays off.

Which time zone does 'today' use?

Your device's local time. The Today button fills in the date your browser reports, so the count matches your calendar.

Is the end date counted?

The main number counts the days from the start date up to the end date, the way a calendar subtraction does: January 1 to January 2 is 1 day. The answer also shows the count with both dates included, which is what leave forms and hotel stays usually mean.
