How 90 days is counted

Day 1 is tomorrow; day 90 is the answer. Ninety days are 12 full weeks plus 6 days, so the answer always falls one weekday before today’s weekday: from a Wednesday, 90 days later is a Tuesday. Calendar days include weekends and holidays. If a contract or a notice says “90 business days” or “90 working days”, the deadline is much later — about four months — and the calculator’s Business days mode counts that instead.

90 days or 3 months?

Many rules use one or the other, and they are not interchangeable:

Written as Counted Example from October 7, 2026
90 days 90 calendar days January 5, 2027
3 months Same day number, three months on January 7, 2027
90 business days Monday–Friday, without holidays February 19, 2027

Return windows, trial periods, probation and notice periods are usually stated in days; billing and leases in months. Read the wording before you mark the calendar.

Common 90-day deadlines

  • Store returns and warranties: “90 days from purchase” counts from the receipt date, not from today. Enter that date as the start in the date calculator.
  • Probation and trial periods: often 90 days from the first day of work; check whether the first day counts in your agreement.
  • Counting the days left: to see how many days remain until a known date, use days between dates.

Planning inside the 90 days

Ninety days is about 13 weeks, a common length for a project phase, a training plan or a quarter of the year. To spread work across it, count the weeks rather than the months: 12 full weeks leave 6 extra days at the end. To turn the span into years for longer plans, use weeks to years; to add up hours worked over the period, the hours calculator. For a time of day as well as a date, the time duration calculator counts hours and minutes between two moments.

For a shorter or longer span, see 60 days from today and 180 days from today.

Frequently asked questions

What date is 90 days from today?

The calculator at the top shows it for your local date. From October 7, 2026, for example, 90 days later is Tuesday, January 5, 2027.

Is 90 days the same as 3 months?

Not exactly. Three calendar months are 89 to 92 days depending on the months, so a deadline written as "90 days" and one written as "3 months" can land on different dates.

How many weeks is 90 days?

12 weeks and 6 days, or 12.86 weeks.

How many business days are in 90 days?

64 or 65 weekdays, minus the federal holidays that fall on a weekday in between, so 59 to 65 business days. The table above counts them for the current dates.

Does the count include today?

No. Day 1 is tomorrow, and day 90 is the date shown. This is how most notices and deadlines are counted.

What date was 90 days ago?
