How to convert inches to feet

Divide the inches by 12:

feet = inches ÷ 12

Areas convert with the square of the factor: 1 sq ft = 12 × 12 = 144 sq in. Divide square inches by 144:

a 24 × 36 in rug: 864 sq in ÷ 144 = 6 sq ft;
a 12 × 12 in tile: 144 sq in = 1 sq ft;
a 30 × 60 in tub: 1,800 sq in = 12.5 sq ft.
