Square feet are different

A length conversion does not work for areas. One square foot is 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 m², so a 12 ft × 15 ft room (180 sq ft) is 16.72 m² — not 54.86. Work out the area in square feet with the square footage calculator, then multiply by 0.09290304.
